Bloc Party were my first "real" gig alone. The feeling of excitement and admiration still runs through me today and is what keeps me going through music journalism. There really is nothing like the rush of finding a new band and hearing them play live! This time around, Bloc Party are indie music veterans. Their music can be heard at any indie disco worth it's weight in warm cider and they have produced some pretty amazing records.
No album has ever meant as much to me (well, apart from The Beatles tape I played on repeat as a small child...) as 'Silent Alarm'. It's rare that an album can be played in it's entirety so many times and still sounds so good. It was my soundtrack for a good few months. It brought me closer together with certain loved ones (who are still around by the way! Wooo!) It even helped me pass Psychology A-Level: "Like drinking poison, Like Smith & Glass" anyone?
So, here's to Bloc Party. May you positively influence teenagers for years to come!
I miss Matt Tong and his little outfits... *sigh*

Blimming love Bloc Party! xx
ReplyDeleteThey've been one of my favourite bands for so long! Nothing can compare to the first album though xx
